NoFloCoÂ
Last spring I noticed that some of my trees were showing signs of mountain pine beetle infestation. When I contacted a tree service, I learned that there were about 14 very large trees affected, and removal would cost about $1000 per tree.
I am a senior person with a small, fixed income and that cost is totally beyond my ability to pay. I called various senior agencies and was finally directed to NoFloCo, a voluntary organization. They came, assessed the situation and began tree removal shortly after, cutting down 6-7 of the affected trees and advised they would be back this spring to remove the rest. When I offered some payment, they said no, they do this for their neighbors.
I am very concerned that the immensely valuable work provided by NoFloCo will be stopped. The fire mitigation for me, my neighbors and the entire community are critically needed. I hope there is some way for the sheriff, the board and NoFloCo to come to some resolution that will allow NoFloCo to continue its generous service to all of us.
In these times, it is amazing to find people who are willing to help their neighbors in such a practical, valuable way. It is my hope that NoFloCo will be able to continue.
